Bosch supported the expansion of the product portfolio of a Spanish manufacturer from product development through to selecting the right processing and packaging equipment. Today, the products are consumer favorites.
Testing the waters
When a Spanish food manufacturer sought to diversify its product portfolio by entering a new field of bar production, it partnered with the confectionery experts from Bosch in Viersen, Germany. At its “Technikum” testing plant they assisted the customer with the development and production of the bars for the Spanish market. Six different bars were created and tested under real production conditions. The results were convincing and propelled the manufacturer to a successful entry into the new market segment.

From the beginning, the manufacturer favored an all-in-one processing and packaging solution to be able to fully concentrate on exploiting the new business field and to reduce the technical complexity of the project. For a comprehensive realization of the customer’s specific requirements, Bosch combined technical expertise and solutions from across a number of its facilities. The Bosch site in Viersen supplied the bar production line capable of producing 500 bars per minute. It consists of dosing and dissolving units, a batch cooker for producing the binding agent, and the forming line for the bar mass. The finished products are individually packaged on a Pack 401 horizontal flow wrapper, manufactured at Bosch’s site in Schiedam, Netherlands. And finally, a Bosch Presto D2 Delta robot, from Romanel-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland, places the wrapped bars into display cartons. The machines for erecting and closing the display cartons were also supplied by Bosch.
Delicious results
Bosch delivered a complete processing and packaging line that allows fast changeovers and easy cleaning for efficient and hygienic processes. After only five months, the new line went into production and the first bars rolled off the line, letting consumers readily enjoy the tasty treats.
